Overview
At the beginning of the program, the band will select some songs to learn from a database. During the initial learning and rehearsal stage, each participant will receive individual advice and feedback on their parts, and how they can improve. The band mentor will then provide advice to the group on how to play together as a band, and encourage the band to make suggestions on possible improvements and to try out new ideas.
The participants will also have the option of developing their own original songs. This could involve working from scratch or developing existing ideas. The band mentor will facilitate the development of the song structure in terms of length and order of the following: introduction, verse, bridge, chorus, solo and outro.
After spending some time workshopping, composing and rehearsing as a group, specialist instrumental teachers will begin working one-on-one with each band member to further develop each component of the song. The band will then come together having the opportunity to apply the new skills learnt from their one-on-one tuition.
The band will then have the opportunity to practice for their recording session under studio-like conditions – e.g. playing along with a click track to keep the songs at a constant tempo.
The final stage of the program is for the band to record the songs that they have rehearsed in the studio. Following the recording session, the band will then come in and discuss any changes that need to be made to the CD in terms of instruments that may need to be turned up or down etc.
