In 2007, Jim Normandy started Normandy Guitars, the company that would make the world’s first production aluminium archtop electric guitar. Because of various tonal qualities and different grades of aluminium, it took 15 prototypes to get the right tone and to perfect the internal bracing.
Normandy Guitars were born from a rocker’s love of classic guitars. The unique sound of the aluminium body resonating from the strings vibrates against your body with distinct ring that feels right. At 555 we totally agree with Jim Normandy’s ability to mix the retro looks with a body of unique raw materials to make a perfect match of raw rock style with classic tone. We are looking forward to Normandy’s latest creation The Alunmincaster a tele style Alunminium rock beasts with all the twang and grit of a tele with the look and feel of a road worn guitar.
Using aircraft grade Aluminium these American-made guitars are manufactured and hand-riveted in Salem, Oregon in the U S of A. They feature a body with classic arch top curves, a vintage Bigsby®-vibrato tailpiece, distinctive rivets on the front and back of the body and Normandy’s own high output pickups.
